My girlfriend's 14-year-old Black Lab has been having breathing problems for a couple of years, but nothing serious. Last week, she started wheezing a lot, and an X-ray showed gray areas in her lungs where they should be dark. The vet prescribed antibiotics and a drug to help her breathe, but after 3 days, she is still wheezing. The vet also mentioned an irregular heartbeat. How long does it usually take for antibiotics to work in a dog this age, and what is the usual treatment for fluid due to heart disease?
