My Great Dane, Gertie, is having trouble walking, has no balance, and is vomiting with food in it. She got into some trash last night that had spoiled deer sausage and two Easter bunny chocolate bunnies. What should I do?

I have questions about my dog's treatment for Dr. Paul Brazzell. My dog, Zeus, has been experiencing serious weight loss, diarrhea, and vomiting. He was diagnosed with Garbage enteritis and prescribed Metronidazole, metoclopramide, fortiflora, and Hills science diet canned food. My main concern is that the vet only performed a fecal exam and did no blood work or other lab tests. Is this normal for such a case? Should additional tests like blood work, urine tests, abdominal X-rays, or an abdominal ultrasound be conducted? Is Garbage enteritis a legitimate diagnosis, and are the prescribed medicines valid for his condition? What food would you recommend for him once the prescribed food is used up, and can you recommend a good food for a healthy Great Pyrenees?
