My dog, Lily, a Golden Retriever about 6 1/2 years old, has been diagnosed with bladder cancer, a receding hairline on her nose, dry skin patches on her front and back legs, and is overweight. Is there something else going on here that my vet should have picked up on?

My dog, Koby, a 6-year-old German Shepherd, strains to poop multiple times a day during walks, often unsuccessfully, and occasionally produces small, inconsistent stools, sometimes black from grazing grass. He is otherwise healthy and active. I took him to the vet who prescribed pain medication and an antibiotic, and suggested a procedure to scope his rectum. I'm considering transitioning him back to a Science Diet diet which previously resulted in healthy bowel movements. What should I do?
