My rescue dog delivered pups in March 2013. She was emaciated and anemic, so we separated her from the pups and she never got to nurse them. It's now July, and she has two swollen bottom teats that look like brains and are painful. The teats sometimes drain blood and fluids. My vet has put her on three different rounds of antibiotics, which haven't helped. He suggested a mastectomy. What should I do?
