My dog, Ana, woke up with trouble walking, panted for a bit, and then seemed better. We are on vacation and she walks 8 miles a day on the beach. We suspect a reaction to bug killer used in the rental or overexertion from the walking. Is there anything else we should consider or check?

My vet gave us 3 syringes of pentosan polysulfate sodium 250 mg to give to our dog, Kane, for three weeks. The first shot was at the vet, but the second was tough. Kane, a 190 lb Great Dane, is resistant to anyone touching his leg. I have a prescription for .5 mg Xanax and am wondering if I can give him one to calm him down for the shot. My vet thinks we can hold him, but I don't feel comfortable with that. Would the Xanax hurt him?

My dog, Oliver, a 3.5-year-old boxer/beagle mix, suddenly has difficulty going up stairs and jumping on the couch, yelping in pain, which seems to be coming from his lower back. He lifts both back legs together to jump slowly and uses his upper body to pull himself up. The vet has ruled out kidney problems, Lyme disease, and other issues through blood work, urine check, eye sight test, and spine and neck examination. The vet prescribed antibiotics for a possible stomach problem, but I don't think it's stomach-related as his appetite and poop are normal. Could this be due to a fall or injury from the new house with many stairs and wooden floors, or is it something else?
