Our 11-year-old Westie, Memphis, has prostate cancer and was diagnosed almost a year ago. Recently, he has been having trouble holding his urine and sometimes doesn't drink water. He also doesn't play much and just lays around. Is he going to continue to get worse, and is it time to make a decision about his care? Additionally, why should we wait for him to be in pain before considering further action, and is he showing signs now that it is getting close to that point?

I am in the process of adopting a 7-year-old yellow Lab named Beau. He had a complete blood and urine panel done, and everything was fine except for a small amount of protein (a '1') in his urine. The specific gravity of his urine was 1.035, and the pH was 7.5. What is the degree of concern around the protein in his urine?
