We have an 8-year-old Chow mix dog who is fearful of fireworks, thunderstorms, and loud noises. He whines, paces, and won't settle down. I've tried herbal medicine, thunder jackets, and even Diazepam from his vet, but nothing helps. He won't go into a cage, bathroom, closet, or under the bed like he used to. He's become more unruly, trying to get into the fireplace, on top of cabinets, and into shelves under the kitchen counter. He also growls and nips at me when I try to stop him. Is there any other way to help him settle down? I read somewhere that a blood pressure medicine might help.
