Why are veterinarians required by their state's Veterinary Medical Board to keep the medical records of deceased patients? What use would the records have at that point? Also, are the visual images of X-rays, MRI, Ultrasound, PET, CT-Scan, etc., part of the patient's record? What about the results of blood tests or other diagnostic tests? If so, can the client get a copy of all of these as well as the written notes from the veterinarians?

Can I send you a picture of my dog Hemmi, who is 12 years old? Hemmi has a pillow area flap that looks like a mini whoopie cushion and doesn't seem irritated or have extra blood buildup.

Hello! We live in the country and noticed a flesh wound on our black lab, Chance, who is 9 years old. Our local vet is closed, and we're a few miles from town. The wound is not bleeding heavily, but we are concerned about potential bacteria spreading since we have a 15-month-old child and a pregnant wife. Should we keep our child away from the dog, clean the wound, and crate the dog until we can see a vet in the morning?
