How do you handle a doctor who is inconsistent in their relationship with patients, such as being kind and providing necessary care one time, but then terminating the relationship when finding out the patient saw another doctor for a different prescription, and is this professional behavior?

My husband, who had a massive stroke on 1/21/10, has been in rehab for 9 weeks. His left side is paralyzed, with some movement in his left foot and leg but none in his left hand and arm. Is it possible for him to regain movement in his leg and arm, and what is the average time for this process? What can I do to help?
