I have a bleeding ulcer and have been hospitalized twice for a week each time. The first time, I had two blood transfusions, but my body did not accept the blood, and my hematocrit went back down. I was also recently hospitalized in June for exploratory laparoscopic surgery where a hernia and adhesions from gastric bypass surgery were found. I'm taking protonix, but I'm not convinced that was my only problem. I usually end up in the hospital every 2-3 years with the same issue.
