I have had a persistent barking cough for approximately two years. I have been diagnosed with asthma and have tried various treatments, including a nasal spray and anti-heartburn tablets, but none have stopped the cough. I am 65 years old, in relatively good health except for slightly high blood pressure and stress incontinence, which is exacerbated by the cough. What could be causing this chronic cough, and what further steps can I take to address it?
