I fell down the stairs last June and hit the right side of my lower back. Two months later, a painful ball developed in the area it hit, causing a piercing pain and a dull ache all the time. Army doctors diagnosed it as a lymphatic issue or fatty buildup that would need to be cut out once I return to Germany. They have only had me do physical therapy, which is not helping and causing more pain. What could be wrong with my back, and what treatment options are available?
