In the last 48 hours, I have had stomach pain about 1" below my belly button. The pain is both on the left and right sides of the belly button and is a burning pain, rated about a 4 on a scale from 1-10. The pain is relieved by a bowel movement, my bowels are normally large but are quite small in the last 48 hours, and there is tenderness when I touch below my belly button. I don't feel sick and have no fever. The pain lasts only a few seconds and comes and goes, with 4-5 hours passing with no pain. The pain is most intense in the morning just after getting up and seems worse after eating a meal. I had this happen before about 3 years ago and it lasted about a week. I have had irritable bowel syndrome for over 12 years, and fatty or spicy foods trigger pain. Could this be related to food, and is there anything I can take? I am a 45-year-old male.
