I was tested for HSV-1 and HSV-2 and the result for HSV-2 was negative, but the result for HSV-1 was 'unable to read.' What does this mean, and is it possible that the unreadable result could be due to HIV? I got tested because I had a cold sore on the outside corner of my mouth and a few bumps on my tongue. Please help me figure this out.

Swelling of the top part of the hand from the wrist to the fingers could be a sign of what? Both hands do it from time to time, but the right one stays swollen. My nephew used intravenous drugs in those areas as well as the bend of his arms. Could this have something to do with it? He has been clean for a few months now and the doctor told him it was tendinitis, but I am skeptical.
