My father is 73 years old and recently completed 8 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy for bladder cancer. He has a history of mild stroke, mini strokes, bladder cancer, and had one kidney removed due to cancer. Before the kidney removal, he showed mild signs of dementia and depression, for which he was prescribed Zoloft. After the surgery, his condition worsened, and he was switched to Lexapro, which didn't work, so he returned to Zoloft. He has lost significant weight and was recently hospitalized for sepsis due to his remaining kidney not functioning properly. He is now refusing to eat, is severely depressed, has difficulty controlling his bowel movements, and constantly wants to sleep. What can we do to help him?
