My four-year-old has been running a fever off and on for over a month. She was prescribed antibiotics in August for a sore throat and continues to have low-grade fevers, occasionally reaching 103.8. She also has allergies and takes liquid Zyrtec daily. Recently, her ears have been draining considerably, and her eyes have been matted shut. What could be causing this and what should I do?

Shortly after returning from a trip in January 2010, I developed a serious cough with clear phlegm production. I was diagnosed with bronchitis and prescribed antibiotics, but my symptoms worsened despite treatment. I have been on multiple courses of antibiotics, inhalers, and other medications over the past month and a half, but I still have a chronic cough and difficulty breathing. I'm concerned about the prolonged treatment and wondering if airway inflammation can cause mucus and chronic cough for over 30 days, and how long it might take to resolve. Additionally, could the change in climate from the Midwest to the Arizona desert be contributing to my symptoms?
