Why would my hCG levels have risen briefly (I had a "barely positive" blood serum test) if I'm not pregnant and have not had a period? The nurse said that sometimes hCG levels rise before one starts their period; however, the test was done over a week ago and I still haven't had a period. I quit my birth control on January 9th and had a period from January 13-18. I haven't had a period since. I failed three home pregnancy tests (HPT), so I went to see my doctor. This is when I got the barely positive result. Two days later, they did another blood serum test and it was negative. I really want to get pregnant ASAP. My doctor did not inform me that after stopping birth control, it could take several months for my period to return to normal. They offered to give me something to make me start my period, but is it worth it? Would this mean that I would start ovulating regularly again? PLEASE HELP! I would be so grateful for any advice.
