I am applying to become a police officer at my local police department. I was discharged from the Marine Corps in January 2013 with an honorable discharge after 5 years of active duty. On the application, they ask about drug use. If I admit to drug use that occurred during my active duty, can the police department contact the Marines and have them downgrade my discharge?
