As a complainant in a sexual assault case, can I invoke the Fifth Amendment to avoid self-incrimination, and if I do, will it affect the defendant's charges? Additionally, if I clarify that my initial statements were made under a bad state of mind and were not accurate, can immunity protect me from being accused of lying?
