As an Independent Contractor in Los Angeles, California, I am hired to provide a specific therapy modality to clients on an hourly basis. The company has a 48-hour cancellation policy where they bill 100% of the session cost for missed appointments. I am informed that I can invoice for the missed session but will 'owe the company that hour' for clerical work. I disagree with this policy and want to know my legal rights to refuse this arrangement and what I can say to the company to assert my rights.
