Can a large claim civil suit be awarded based solely on the speculation of what the plaintiff believes he “would” have earned from a stock sale? Background: IPO shares of Facebook that plummeted within moments of the market opening. My sister and a friend started a business together, and I was handling the office lease due to my sister's better credit. Now, my sister wants to back out of the lease, claiming she never gave me permission to handle it. The lease office is asking her to file a police report and return the keys, which she hasn't done. What should I do to protect myself, especially since I have a felony record and am on probation?

My husband and I own his CPA firm in Illinois. He died last week. He was a CPA, and I am not. He had no partners. Is there a grace period in which his employees, some CPAs, can continue the work? We are in the beginning of the tax season.

My Chinese client is being deposed as a plaintiff in a civil suit for Quiet Title. She does not speak or understand English, so the defense has hired a Cantonese-speaking translator. I want my client's sister to assist her during the deposition, but the defense intends to depose the sister as well. The sister is not a party to the case but signed a declaration of facts important to the case. Can the defense add the sister to the deposition without a subpoena since she is not a party? What rules or case law control this situation? How can I prevent the sister from being deposed at this time, as she is there to assist me and my client?

I am the only lease holder in my apartment complex and have two other occupants. The apartment complex recently sent a copy of my lease renewal to my occupants without my consent. Is this legal in Florida?
