We had a roof service done a couple of years ago, paid a deposit, but the service was not completed as promised or correctly. We received a letter from an attorney's office requesting the remaining payment plus interest and fees, which is more than double what we owe. We cannot afford any negative impact on our credit. Can we still dispute this in court, prevent it from being reported to credit bureaus, or take legal action after paying to recover our money?

A piece of sheet metal fell off a roof of a building at my workplace, damaging my car. The metal was from an air conditioning unit installed by my company, which leases the building. Both my company and the building owner claim no responsibility and suggest I go through my insurance policy. When it goes through subrogation, are lawyers involved in the process or is it a claims specialist? I live in Illinois and State Farm is my carrier. The incident took place in Crystal Lake, IL.

We received a FairClaims Arbitration Award on 7/23/2021, in the amount of $9,300.00. The respondent has failed to pay us even though both parties signed the Arbitration Agreement. We tried to hire an attorney but the attorney won’t help us because we went through arbitration. We live in Bay County, FL and the contractor lives in Broward Co, FL.
