I work for a sister company under a closing agent who is forcing me to write estimates based on bogus amounts. My job and my partner's job are at risk if I don't comply. How can I protect myself and possibly report this agent to the board of ethics?

I received a notice of rejection for an answer to a summons with the Suffolk County Supreme Court of New York, stating the answer was untimely. The process server initially threw the summons on the ground outside my gated community, and I received it in the mail on 1/13/23, filing my answer electronically on 2/12/23. I was told I had 30 days from when I received it to answer. How do I address this rejection notice, was the service faulty, and could they get a default judgment? If so, could I appeal? Additionally, should I file a motion asking for a process service hearing and a judicial order for the answer to be accepted, or file a motion to dismiss for lack of proper service?

I had a roommate who agreed to take care of my pets and house while I was deployed. She moved out without notice, leaving the pets underfed and the house in a state of neglect. The pets were starved to the point of cannibalism, and the house was covered in feces. I want to sue for neglect and endangerment. What steps should I take, and how can I hold my roommate accountable for these actions?
