I have an agreement with my father to pay back a loan from him. He is now trying to unilaterally change the agreement after an argument, threatening to charge interest if I do not pay an increased amount. There is nothing in our original document that states he can charge interest. I am in Massachusetts and he is in Illinois. What steps should I take to protect myself legally?
