I am having to put my husband in a memory care unit. We don't own anything, but we do have a small IRA. He is going in on long-term care and self-pay. Am I doing it the right way? I am in Texas and have dual power of attorney on him. Our combined monthly income is $2,384.00 from his Social Security and $984.00 from mine, with a monthly dividend of $1,500.00 from the IRA. The total in the IRA is $440,000.00.
