I am heading into court this afternoon to defend myself against a junk debt buyer lawsuit in Iowa. I have answered the summons and have some concerns: the last activity from the original creditor was in 8/2020, the debt has been sold to different companies multiple times, the plaintiff's offer of evidence includes bills of sale but no actual contracts or purchase agreements, the summons states an incorrect address for me, and the amount claimed by the debt buyer differs from the original creditor's amount. I want to know what to expect in court and how to handle these issues.
