I brought my 2000 Freightliner truck to have the motor rebuilt in early July 2019, and it has not been completed after nearly four months, causing significant business losses. My business may also lose its operating authority on the 24th of this month. I have visited the local justice of the peace, city court, and the clerk of court to try and file a demand letter, but was told I need to do a petition. I don't know how or where to find one. What can I do?

I have a very small LLC registered in Colorado that recently received a collection notice dating back to 2011. I don't have resources to pay it. Can they come after me or my family's personal assets? How can I protect myself from them 'piercing the corporate veil'? What is the best way to make it clear to them that the business and I are separate entities? Should I close my business, and if so, how should I proceed with the collection notices? Is there a way to get them to stop without filing bankruptcy? Would filing bankruptcy on my business help, and if so, how would it affect my personal security?
