Can the bank legally call and tell someone that they are an heir of a safe deposit box, and can the police get involved in the opening of a safe deposit box? If my brother and I were listed as heirs to the safe deposit box, but I did not disclose the box before probate was closed, and now the bank needs to speak with their legal team before opening the box, what should I do? Could my brother have opened the safe deposit box without me present and taken a will out, leaving other contents inside? If my brother never disclosed the will, is there a consequence? Could the bank set me up to commit a crime to open the safe deposit box, or could this be a sting operation? If my brother has the will and is listed as the executor of the estate, does this invalidate my responsibility as an executor, and does he have to let me know if he is the new executor of the estate? If the letters of testamentary are not current, do they still have to notify the executor? Hypothetically, what if he opened up after probate was closed, do the courts need to notify the former executor? What if I renew my letters of testamentary but someone else was appointed executor by a will?
