I have a business LLC with a business partner, and things are not working out. I'm wondering if there are any legal troubles if I abandon the business and go solo. Also, what are the penalties for breaking a lease legally, and if my partner stays, would I still be considered breaking the lease?

I have a criminal arraignment today in Wichita, Kansas, and I need to obtain more time to find legal counsel. How can I request a continuance to get more time, and what is the best way to do it in court?

An officer questioned me without any proof of identification. Are those questions legal to use? I am located in New York. The situation involves intimidation by police officers and the alleged victim's father, leading me to feel forced to lie. I am an immigrant dealing with paperwork and felt pressured to corroborate a story against my boss. Additionally, the alleged victim has been harassing me and my coworkers, showing inappropriate images and making inappropriate comments and gestures. When I tried to report this, the police were not interested. What should I do in this situation?

I have a question regarding a second degree stalking charge in Idaho. Our nephew dated a girl in high school and they split up but have remained in occasional contact over the last five years. She has texted him regularly without any issues other than the occasional argument, and has NEVER once expressed to him that she didn't want him to contact her. She has often been the one to initiate contact when they go through periods of not speaking, including most recently as of October when she reached out and started talking to him again. Last week, he was helping a mutual friend who owns the coffee shop where his ex-girlfriend works. He has previously done some free photography for the coffee shop owner for their social media accounts, and the owner asked him to come down and take photos of the baristas making coffees so they could use them to promote the shop. His ex wasn't even scheduled to be at work that day originally, but she ended up being called in and got jealous that he was taking photos of the girls she works with. Everything blew up from there and his ex-girlfriend's mom started texting him saying he was stalking her. He responded back stating that he didn't want anything more to do with the ex or their family and he was just trying to help out the mutual friend (the coffee shop owner). Today though, the police asked him to come in and it was just one officer who interviewed him and it was a woman who told him 'I know your type of guy because I've had to deal with them before'. This officer had seemingly already made up her mind on this report based on what the ex-girlfriend told her and when our nephew tried to tell her he has texts etc from her, she wouldn't even look at them and said she had everything she already needed. She even told him it didn't matter if the ex-girlfriend never said she didn't want him to contact her or reciprocate contact because she shouldn't have to. But from everything I read about what constitutes stalking this sounds like it isn't true especially given that she never clearly expressed a desire to cut contact and she was frequently the one initiating it. The officer ended up telling him he is being charged with second degree stalking, and he has a court date in two days time. This is all with zero history of any kind of harassment reports, she's never applied for a no-contact order, nothing has ever happened in the past to warrant this and it has taken all of us by surprise. Given that he was only just interviewed today (on a Saturday) and has only two days to prepare for court, we have been trying to find a lawyer in our area to help but we know this is going to take some time. So my question is what should we expect in court on Monday? Can we ask for a continuance given that he doesn't even have legal counsel yet? We aren't sure how to handle this as I have never in my life heard of stalking charges being handled this way.

I've been clinically depressed for about 3 years, which has made it difficult for me to clean my room, leading to it becoming very messy. I received an email from my apartment complex about a notice of entry for fire safety checks. I'm concerned that my messy room might breach my lease agreement and lead to eviction. Should I be worried about being evicted for this, especially since the rest of the house is clean and there's no mold or bad smell, just a lot of plastic and sandpaper?
