I have been my mother's Power of Attorney since 1993. She wants me to be paid a small monthly fee for my bookkeeping services as she has rental properties to manage and other miscellaneous work to do. I worry if I take a fee for this service, my mom might not get Medicaid if needed in the future. Is it true that this is considered a service, not a gift, and is not looked at negatively by Medicaid? I spend at least several hours a day on her as the POA, and this would be great as I have cut back my hours on my job to take care of her. I just don't want to have any entanglement with Medicaid in the future if she should need it.

Is there a way to stop a writ of garnishment, and can the company stop the process if we can pay more than the 25% garnishment? Would you recommend having an attorney represent us?
