I have been subpoenaed to testify in a trial resulting in the death of my friend's child. Do I need an attorney, and what type? I am in Coconino County, AZ, and just received the subpoena via email. I am unsure whether I will be testifying for the defense or the prosecution and want to ensure all my rights are protected.

Court orders state that Dad and mom switch weeks during the summer. The five-year-old loves to go to Dad's house with his live-in girlfriend, but the eight-year-old hates it. During their time with Dad, they spend most of the day with their grandfather watching TV. The eight-year-old has expressed emotional distress due to being grounded and yelled at by the girlfriend. This coming weekend, the girlfriend's family, including the kids, is going to Santa Cruz, which the mother believes will be a disaster. The children are also made to wear diapers to bed due to anticipated 'accidents,' causing humiliation. Is there any quick way out of this situation?

How long can my employer say I am not fired but yet not work or pay me? I am a security officer who was harassed by my supervisor, asked for a transfer, and was trained for a new post. After filing a complaint, I was told the post was not ready and to wait for a new assignment. Meanwhile, I have no income and am unsure if I can file for unemployment because they say I am still working. I am paid hourly and work in California.

I was passing through MD on vacation and stopped in a shopping plaza to feed my baby. I parked in an area with signs indicating surveillance, but was robbed within 10 minutes. The cameras were no longer in use, and the signs were not removed after the tenant moved out. Is it possible to bring a civil case against the shopping plaza or the previous tenant?

My husband handles all the bills and has insurance that he pays from his check at work. I am legally disabled and housebound, with Medicare A and B. We never discussed this until now, 20 years later. Does he have to inform his insurance company about my Medicare? Are we in trouble? Can they take our home away? I remember being told years ago that I did not have to disclose this information to my husband's insurance, but now I am worried.

I have a settlement conference scheduled for tomorrow, January 26, 2010, in Isanti County, MN, for a felony charge of a dishonored check in the amount of $3,200. I do not have the money to pay it now but will have it in approximately 4 months. I do not have an attorney and am currently residing in Texas, working in the construction field. I am in Minnesota to attend the conference and feel unprepared. What are my options and what should I expect tomorrow? The state prosecutor has been cooperative and mentioned that if I paid the amount due, the charges would be dropped, which is a first-time offense.
