I lived with my fiancée in her parents' house where an altercation occurred. My fiancée is on the Autism Spectrum Disorder and has several mental disorders, while her brother is also autistic but low functioning and violent. During a meltdown, her father kicked down our door, pointed a loaded gun at us, and threatened to kill us. I called 911 and was arrested despite being the main victim. My fiancée, who is hypersensitive and on heavy sedating medications, was manipulated by her father to lie to the police. My question is, given my fiancée's condition and the circumstances, how can I get the father charged and sue him for emotional distress, lying to the police, threatening to kill us with a loaded firearm, and abusing people with mental disabilities?

I practiced medicine in Kentucky from 1995-2003 and then moved to Iowa. I was just served for a delivery I performed in 1998. The Iowa hospital picked up my tail coverage. I am now disabled and no longer practice since 2011. Which insurance company do I need to notify?

My daughter has a lawyer for an auto accident from two years ago, but he is not progressing the case. They have no signed agreement, and no lawsuit has been filed against the instigator who rear-ended her. Can she switch to a new lawyer with minimal financial issues, and does the current lawyer need to provide all related paperwork to the new lawyer?

My daughter, who will be 18 in February 2018, is in a difficult situation with her mother in North Carolina. Her mother's constant mental control has led to my daughter attempting suicide multiple times and being committed. My daughter wants to leave and move in with me in Illinois, but the situation has worsened due to her mother's actions. What legal options do we have to help her move out sooner, such as emancipation or modifying the parent-child relationship?

Does the paperwork for a restraining order have to be hand-delivered, not just slipped under a door, in Connecticut? The sheriff slipped some paperwork under the door for my boyfriend from his ex-girlfriend who he hasn't seen or spoken to in a year. She took out a restraining order on him to get him removed from their home. Now she is trying to renew it, and he hasn't had any contact with her. We haven't opened the door because the papers are there, and he doesn't want me to touch them. Should we touch them, and does that count as being served?
