A lawyer handled a purchase of a partnership interest for my father-in-law in 1980. My father-in-law paid back taxes, liens, and assumed all debts of the partnership. One parcel of land in both their names on the deed was not transferred by deed, and both parties are now deceased. I need the notes or records from the attorney who handled the purchase. I have asked to talk to him but he will not unless I provide a copy of everything I have first. Do I have a right to a copy of the file and the information, or can he withhold it? As a CPA, I must provide clients with copies of all their records upon request. Is this the same for a lawyer?

I live in CA, my daughter just turned 18 and is a senior in high school. She left the house to live with a friend without a job or means to support herself. She has ADHD and borderline bipolar disorder, and is on medication for both. I'm concerned about her medication and finishing high school. Can she just leave at will like this, and do I have any legal rights?

I loaned $10,000 to a currency trader in Texas, with a written agreement for monthly payments. After the first year, he stopped making payments and admitted to losing everything, promising to repay without a timeline. How can I pursue getting my money back, especially since he is in Texas and I am in Pennsylvania?
