I need legal advice as a victim of domestic violence. I was charged with a Felony after calling the police to remove an ex-girlfriend from my house, where she had injured herself. I posted bail and now need to know how to protect myself. She was charged with a misdemeanor, and we are not married. I am afraid she will come back to my property to try to stay here again. Should I file a restraining order? The police said the city is charging me with Felony Domestic Violence with injury, even though I didn't do anything wrong and any injury was caused by her own actions or as an accident from me defending myself. How should I protect myself, and is there a good chance I would be punished with jail time for a first-time offense in a case like this?
