I need legal advice regarding defamation of character, libel, and slander. Specifically, I am the president of a philanthropic foundation and a board member, who is also my cousin and the VP, received a defamatory text message from my ex-girlfriend about me being emotionally and physically abusive. My cousin, who wants my position as president, is considering bringing this to the board at an upcoming meeting on September 12. I want to know if I have a right to protect my name and reputation from being defamed by this board member and if there is anything within libel or slander law to prevent my cousin from bringing these unverified, untrue allegations to the board.

My husband and I agreed to sell a 5th wheel to our caregiver, Kim, and her husband, Estes, in exchange for Estes's contracting services. We paid off the 5th wheel with an $8000 check in August 2022, and Estes worked off and on for 2 months. After letting Kim go from her job with us, Estes asked for more money for his time, and we agreed to pay $2000 per month plus $200 for gas. We paid a total of $6200, but Estes later texted that he wouldn't be returning to work and asked how much he still owed. We provided a payoff amount to be completed by February 24, 2023, which they agreed to but did not fulfill. They also lied about Estes being a contractor. We want to know how to resolve this situation, including repossessing the 5th wheel or getting paid as agreed, taking action against their false statements, and reporting Estes to prevent him from harming others.

My mom was given a Special DPOA document to sign, but her birthdate is listed incorrectly. She notified the real estate agent, who said the mistake wouldn't matter. I live in California and am a paralegal. Should the document be corrected, and if so, how can it be done? Additionally, my mom wants to make me her agent for real estate transactions in Texas. What is the difference between a Texas real estate power of attorney form and a limited power of attorney form, and how much would it cost to create the correct document?

I plead guilty in 2008 to sex crimes, violent crimes, and crimes of trust and reputation. I completed a five-year federal sentence in a Canadian prison. I have been diagnosed with about ten mental illnesses and was certified mentally ill, becoming an involuntary patient under Fraser Health for approximately ten years. I did not receive therapeutic treatment for my mental illnesses but was heavily drugged. I am no longer on my drugs and still symptomatic of my mental illnesses. I was reported to the RCMP for two counts of fraud but faced no charges. Can I cross the border from Canada into the United States if I get an Entry Waiver, or do I require some other document to enter the United States because of my successfully untreated mental illnesses?
