I own a landmark townhouse in The Bronx. On April 13, 2012, I allowed the Fire Department to enter my home. They later stated that my home is listed as a 1-family dwelling and that I cannot have friends living there who are not immediate family. They also mentioned a lack of a second egress on the 2nd and 3rd floors. I explained that my home is a 1-2 family home, not a multifamily home. I contacted the DOB and applied for a Letter of No Objection for the legal use of my home. I am a single mother with financial hardship and cannot afford the fees for architects to submit documents to DOB. I have a court date for September 11, 2012, in Criminal Court NYC. Is there anything else I could do?

My daughter purchased a car two weeks ago with me as a co-signer. I signed my portion of the contract 13 days ago. We requested copies of the paperwork and information about the bank, but received a denial notice seven days ago. The finance officer at the dealership has not returned calls, and someone else from the dealership called to schedule an appointment with her tomorrow. Can they take the car back? Is the Effective Date of a Florida Sale and Purchase contract changed to the date of an Addendum subsequently added? For example, the original contract has an Effective Date of 7/13, but a new offer was made by the Buyer on 7/18, requiring an Addendum. The new offer was accepted by the Seller, and the Addendum was signed by both parties on 7/23. The Contract provision states: 'Riders; ADDENDA TYPEWRITTEN OR HANDWRITTEN PROVISIONS: Riders, addenda and typewritten or handwritten provisions shall control all printed provisions of this Contract in conflict with them.'
