I recently received a letter from South Carolina Medicaid stating that my personal and health information, along with my son's and brother's, has been copied and sent to an ex-employee's private email address. There were 14 other people whose information was also compromised. What can we do to find the other 14 people and how can we possibly sue the state for the breach in privacy? My current lawyer says there may be 'nothing to do.' I know this is not the truth because I worked in healthcare myself and am familiar with privacy laws. Please help.
