I rent from a person who himself rents a one-bedroom apartment. I sleep on the couch and have been doing so for two years. Yesterday, he gave me a piece of paper stating he was changing the locks in three days. Can he legally do this?

I have been a victim of a hate crime for 5 years, during which my mental credibility was fraudulently stolen to protect the abusers I exposed in a whistleblowing letter to Oprah. I was blackballed, stalked, and discredited by various individuals, including neighbors, family, city officials, college staff, and doctors. The harassment included noise to incite my dogs and constant phone harassment, leading to PTSD. I was also obstructed from obtaining legal help and a lawyer until the statutes ran out. I am currently living with a man who tried to force me to commit suicide due to my blacklisting. I need legal help to restore my credibility and to get a divorce and legal protection. What can I do?

Are employers required by law to pay their employees by the end of the working day on the 15th and the last day of the month, or do they have 5 days from the pay date to hold our checks legally?

I was recently a rape victim. I had told a friend who was there afterwards to leave out something about my past sexual history if he was asked about it. Come to find out, my past sexual history was not being held as evidence during the hearing. Recently, I had to give a testimony at a grand jury. During my testimony, the defense questioned me about this and I was charged with obstructing justice. Is this fair since it was not even being held as evidence?

Can I sue MERS for lost title and wrong mortgage notes on my home in California, given that there are gaps in the dates on my title/deed of trust from September 2003 until now, and I have always paid the mortgage in full and on time?

I purchased my townhouse in Georgia in 2007 with a mortgage of $117,500. Payments, including taxes and insurance, are $875 per month under a 30-year fixed rate mortgage. I am currently up-to-date on the mortgage, but I also have a small credit card debt ($1,500) and a school loan ($13,000). Other townhouses in my development, all newer than mine, are listed for sale at $82,900 and have been on the market for over two years. I have just lost my job and can no longer afford the house payment. I will most likely have to relocate to pursue a job in my field. What should I do with my house? Should I consider a strategic default, foreclosure, bankruptcy, or a short sale? Thank you for your assistance.
