I worked for a law office for two years as their cleaning lady. One of my responsibilities was disposing of garbage which was already bagged. The garbage would always have legal documents that weren't shredded. I wasn't given instructions on how to dispose of them or money for garbage tags, so I put them on the dumpster at my other work place. My boss called the lawyer and asked why her garbage was there, and I got fired over it. No notice or severance. I've left numerous messages at the lawyer's office to discuss this but she won't return my calls. How should I proceed?

I live in South Carolina and have had a civil suit filed against me by a debt collector. If this goes to court and I end up with a judgment, can the sheriff seize my car? I spoke to a bankruptcy lawyer who said in this state they can't take your car if it's the only one you have. I want a second opinion because losing my car would be catastrophic as a single parent of 3 living on disability in a rural area. Additionally, my wife has a car registered in both our names; is that car in jeopardy because my name is on it?
