My lawyer verbally told me about a trial date on 6/9/2022, but the judge had no record of it. He then set a new trial date for November 2022 and asked for $2,500.00 as a retainer and another $2,500.00 after the trial. I offered $5,000.00 for the 2-day trial, but he later asked for $10,000.00 upfront. Is this fair, and what should I do since I suspect he is not acting in my best interest?

I bought a car with my ex-girlfriend, and she is the co-owner. We are no longer together, and I want to remove my name from the car's title and finance papers. She is currently making the payments, but she refuses to refinance to take my name off.
