If I am the recipient of a gift that was paid for with a stolen credit card, am I legally responsible for paying the merchant for said gift? I am in Louisiana. The gift is tires that are currently on my car. They were purchased with a stolen credit card in early June. I brought my car in for service and was informed they were paid for with a stolen credit card. The payment was made to the dealership over the phone. The dealership now wants me to pay for the tires. There were other things paid for on my behalf with stolen credit card numbers. I went to my local sheriff as soon as I realized what was happening. He put me in touch with one of his detectives.

I have been in an extended stay hotel for 48 days in Missouri. We initially had flushing issues and asked for a plunger. Recently, the toilet stopped responding, and maintenance found paper towels in the pipes, which we didn't have in the room. They replaced the toilet, but now they are charging us $600 for the repair, which we need to pay with our weekly rent. Can I legally pay the weekly rent while disputing the toilet bill, and can the hotel evict me if I refuse to pay the repair bill?
