I purchased a business in March. The previous owner had only been there a few months before she "realized she could not work the shop on her own due to injuries she had from an accident". There were a few parts to the original offer including her inventory, POS system, and a paint line and distributorship. There was no non-compete signed. She stayed in the shop working with the paint line as a vendor for only 3 months and now has opened a shop across the street, taking the paint line, the business name of the business I bought, and the style of the shop. Is what she did illegal? Certainly unethical! Maybe not a non-compete issue but a consumer fraud issue??

After terminating therapy, I discovered she published a 'fictional' novel containing scenarios from my personal history. While she didn't use my name, I'm disturbed that she used my trauma for her own gain. Do I have any private legal recourse or any recourse at all?
