In a PA docket, the case was set for an omnibus pretrial motion hearing but was listed for case status instead. The district attorney mentioned wanting to speak with the defendant's parole agent about a plea to prevent parole violation. The defendant postponed a hearing, giving up rights to a speedy trial, and the judge granted the DA a new court date to speak with the parole agent. The defendant has raised valid claims in his omnibus motion and is ready for trial. What gives the district attorney jurisdiction to speak with the defendant's parole agent when the parole is aware of the case and it's up to Harrisburg (parole headquarters) to make the violation decision?

We live in Pike County PA. My husband's 14-year-old son wants to live with us. His mother has physical custody through the state of NY but has lived in PA for 2 years. We have a better household for him, with a four-bedroom house, while his mother lives in a three-bedroom house with six kids and a boyfriend that his son does not like. We have better schools, a better home, both work, and he gets along very well with his two younger sisters and stepmom. He's been coming weekends for 4 years. Will we have a good chance in court? How much does a judge listen to the opinions of a fourteen-year-old?

I received a notice from the sheriff's department about a civil matter, likely a restraining order issued by my evicted roommate who owes me money for rent and utilities. Should I go to the sheriff's office to pick up the restraining order, should I have one issued against him, and what are the ramifications of having a restraining order?

I got married in Las Vegas, NV about 8 years ago but never filed the marriage in the state I live in, which is California. I did file in Las Vegas the night before the marriage. Am I still legally married, and what would I have to do to get a divorce if needed?

I have been divorced for over 3 years and have been receiving child support payments from my ex-husband. Recently, he has decided to make deductions from my monthly payments for random child expenses he chooses. I don't think he has the right to do this. Am I correct, and do I have to hire an attorney to file a motion?
