In the state of Alabama, if a parent ordered to pay child support is behind by about ten thousand dollars and requests a reduction in the amount they have to pay, will the judge adjust payments retroactively from the original court order date or only from the petition of modification date?

My partner and co-founding board member in Alabama informed me in June that she no longer wanted to be part of our 1 1/2 year journey to open our school. She had split the expenses 50/50 until then. Our lease was in her name, which expired that month, and she closed our joint account in July. I have not heard from her until she learned that the school was open. I replaced her on the board to comply with a minimum of 3 members. Is she entitled to recoup the funds she paid during our startup period? Our bylaws don't cover this and we have no written agreements.

I receive SSI and have a small interest in an active gas well that generates between $25 to $100 monthly. Social Security deducts this amount from my SSI check each month. I was informed that if I sell my interest in the gas well, they would take my SSI benefits or make me pay them back the amount received from the sale. Can they do that, and do they have the right to take my SSI from me?

I am representing myself in a New York civil lawsuit where I am the defendant. The case was originally grouped with LLCs that I am a 50% owner in. Due to filing Chapter 11, there was a stay issued to the LLCs but not to me as an individual defendant. I am about to participate in a 341 meeting under oath, where I will be asked questions by the US Trustee and plaintiff’s counsel. I am concerned about involuntarily violating my pro se rights and potentially weakening my state case by providing information that should be kept private or discussing my defense strategy. Can I refuse to answer some questions on the basis that there is a conflict of interest and that it may violate my rights as an individual defendant?
