My brother is in jail in Rahway, NJ. He picked up a charge in state prison and got an extra 300 days. He appealed and the appeal was granted. He has an appeal date, but he is not going to go to court; this will be done over the mail. He needs to write a letter stating why he thinks the decision was wrong, and they will make a decision. He was appointed a public defender, but we want to know how much a private lawyer would charge for this service.

My husband was willed property and funds when he was a minor. His dad was given guardianship over him and the accounts until he turned 18. At 18, my husband was supposed to receive what was willed to him. However, while my husband was in jail, his dad obtained power of attorney to handle the property. The dad then deeded the property to himself, using a forged signature with (poa) on the side of the deed. Does this make the deed valid?

I applied for unemployment benefits in June and received them after a 10-week wait. I am a part-time specialist for the school district, with a contract ending in May. I do not have a reasonable assurance of returning each year due to the scheduling committee's decisions based on student enrollment. The school did not respond to the unemployment office, and now a judge has ordered me to repay the benefits. I want to appeal this decision but need advice.
