What constitutes an interrogating questioning during under oath, especially when the opposing attorney said they may not ask questions but allowed the defendant to ask questions in an extrajudicial hearing? I read a law book covering criminal procedure, ethics of police illegal suggestiveness, line of questioning, and possible violations of the defendant's due process.

Is there a category of "Legal Assistant" recognized in any formal way, i.e. with course requirements, tests, certification etc, such as Paralegals are required to complete? If not, may a lawyer ethically charge a client for the services of a Legal Assistant (the term is undefined)? Is a lawyer ethically permitted to charge for secretarial services where the Retainer does not mention such services?
