My ex-husband was receiving SSDI through a direct deposit debit card. He gave me the PIN and I used the card to pay bills, buy food, and cover other expenses while he was in jail for domestic violence. He is now threatening to sue me and have me jailed for using his debit card without permission, even though he knew I had the card and used it to send him money in jail. Can he sue me or send me to jail, and is there a statute of limitations on this issue?

I live in Florida but the plaintiff lives in Michigan. I won the civil case but lost the appeal. Now I want to appeal to the Michigan Supreme Court. My lawyer wants $20k to take the case, which I can't afford. Can I do this myself from Florida? What are my options, and how can I protect my assets in Florida if I decide to do nothing?

Prior to a divorce, I was demoted from an assistant manager to an hourly clerk in late 2007. I discovered my wife had been accumulating debt on credit cards and a home equity line, which she managed. We borrowed money from her parents and my father to catch up and sell the house, planning to use the equity to pay off debts. My wife refused to sell the house, leading to our divorce in July 2011. In the divorce papers, we agreed she would pay half of the debt to her parents and I would pay half to my father. My share to her parents was $12,000, and her share to my father was $4,000. I made a few payments but lost my second job and haven't been able to afford payments since. My ex-mother-in-law threatened legal action if I don't pay. Since they haven't received payments for over four years, am I protected by any law that prevents creditors from pursuing payment after four years? My ex-wife has paid her share to her parents but made no payments to my father.

I am the President of a corporation that conducts undercover quality assurance audits for hotels, resorts, and casinos globally. I need to obtain an alias identification to match a corporate credit card for undercover work, but I don't know how to legally obtain an Identification Card with an alias name. Can you advise?

Have you heard of a rule that bars admission of certain doctor's records at trial simply because the 30-day discovery response period had lapsed, even if the records were previously sent to the attorney but additional records were later requested?

I have a trial date for next April for a civil lawsuit and I want to postpone the date as far as possible. What would be a good reason for postponement, such as a change of attorney?
