My father is buying a home for me to purchase from him. He wants to do a lease purchase instead of a contract for deed, but we are putting thousands of dollars of our own money into the remodel of the home. What is the difference between lease purchase and contract for deed, and what would be the best benefit to me as the home buyer? There will be no interest charged to buy the home, but I do have to pay homeowners insurance and taxes in his name if we do the lease purchase in his name the way he wants. What would best benefit me and secure my equity in the home I am putting into it?
