My friend Kenzie lost her job after taking bereavement leave to put her dad's affairs in order. She worked for only 3 days at 'Pittsfield Help at Home' in Pittsfield, Illinois, and was fired under false claims of not having auto insurance. When she offered proof of insurance, her supervisor provided conflicting information, stating she was not fired but had quit. The SEIU Local union advised her to contact the Illinois Dept. of Labor. Is filing a complaint with the Illinois Dept. of Labor the right course of action, or should she check periodically with her former employer for a possible return to work?
