My rent has been $1200 for many years, and last year my landlord raised it $200, which I have been paying for a year now. He told me he is going to raise it again $200 starting March. My daughter informed me this is illegal, as he was only allowed to raise it 5% last year and now this year too. How do I get my money back and what am I supposed to do legally to prevent him from raising my rent and lowering it back to what it was supposed to be last year?

My father lent me $40,000 to pay legal bills for my divorce. He is now trying to make me sign a promissory note that includes my paid-off Tahoe as collateral, which we never discussed. Additionally, he is holding my golf cart, horse trailer, and my child's dirtbike hostage until I sign the note. What should I do?
